.. breathing faster, eyes flashing left to right in a sweating silent fit, i pressed my back against the tombstone, trying to fit as much of myself as i could within its shadows frame. I could hear him getting closer, heavy bones sifting through the dirt as he lurked towards my shivering, huddling body. Not looking back i quickly regained my senses and heaved my body into a fullswing run, air fisting my throat hard as i tried to gulp in whatever oxygen i could. five vine-like tendrils suddenly grabbed my right ankle and i lost my footing, hands fucking the air as my body rocketed into the ground. All went dark red and then black. I awoke to find that i had lost a good two thirds of my stomache, one arm, and three toes, but i felt no pain. Quite the contrary, i was starving.. and i had the strangest craving for what i could only presume was rare steak."
